2012 Mandarin Orange Shou Pu'erh
2012 Mandarin Orange Shou Pu'erh
Price is for one mandarin orange, stuffed with 6-8g of ripe Pu'erh.
These are a house favorite, fun to show to guests, and one of the most comforting teas we have! The shou Pu'erh is made from the tips and small material of Gushu trees in the Yiwu area of Yunnan, then stuffed into a 10 year aged mandarin orange that has retained an impressive amount of the oils within its pith and peel.
The flavor imparted by the orange oils is strangely addictive and something you don't want to miss! A strong 'antique' aroma, similar to aged leather and wood, some would almost relate it to the comforting smells of a museum or basement. The flavor brings a slight pithy bitterness and camphor that really compliments the Shou, with an intensely lingering huigan or aftertaste/smell.
These oranges, along with all our mini balls, are best brewed whole in a mug, Gaiwan, or teapot! When using a Gaiwan, 100-150ml is best. You can also keep the orange in the wrapper, crush under your palm once or twice, then unwrap and transfer to your brewing vessel. 212F 100C, this tea can either make several (8-12) steeps of dark liquor by Gaiwan, or a large teapot can be brewed with a single orange.
