Ya bao buds are picked from the fresh new growth of qing Ming or early spring, when very little caffeine has had the chance to develop and produces a tea that is much easier for those who are more caffeine sensitive to enjoy. The process of picking this tea is much more labor intensive, requiring our farmers an entire days work to gather a few kilograms of fresh buds before drying.
This is a unique tea that is sure to please all the senses. From the unique and vibrant purple buds, to the intensely sweet, sour, and floral notes and flavors. Picked from the shoots of fresh branches and new leaves in a wild forest of Fengqing, Lincang Yunnan Province. The steeped buds have an amazing melon and sour apple aroma that translates well to the light colored and smooth tea liquor, with a flavor similar to birch water. This as as fresh as you can get ya bao buds, and is fun to show to guests for just how unique it is compared to other tea.
This is a very versatile brew. Low temps of 180-195F 80-80C and longer steeps bring out more osmanthus and floral notes. Upping the temperature brings out more of the sour fruitiness. This tea is perfect for Grandpa brewing, and especially Gongfu even in low leaf/water ratios. Cold brew during hot weather for an even more refreshing tea.
