This tea, including our Phoenix Dan Cong collection, comes from the renowned oolong town of Wudongcun Village (Wudong Miao village) at an elevation of around 1000m, picked by a family with over 80 years of generational experience, we're excited to bring the heritage of this tea to more people.
This is a very unique tea in both aroma and flavor, made from the young small leaf material that this farm's Shui Xian Dan Cong oolong is made from. The immediate aroma of the dry leaf is intensely floral and heavily roasted. Followed by a fruity sweetness that is reminiscent of peaches and baking spices. The flavor is complex and changes as your steeps go on, starting with the bitter roasted and floral notes, rewarded by intense sweetness and in the ending steeps it is still flavorful with notes of roasted sweet potato, orchids, and stone fruits. This is one for the tasting journal without a doubt, and won't be easily forgotten by guests.
This tea can be brewed western style with a teapot ( 100°C 200°F 1-2g/ 100ml) or is best enjoyed Gongfu style in a Gaiwan at 90°C 190°F 7-10g up to 10-12 steeps.
